Updates

• Password history: Every entry now keeps a history. Replace a password and the old one moves into the history, together with the date of the change — up to five versions back. All of it stays encrypted inside your login picture.
• List or tiles: You can now show passwords, notes and the address book as a list or as tiles. Your choice is stored on this device, so you do not have to set it again every time.
• Entry into view: Click an entry in the list and it moves fully into the window — including all its details, even when it sits right at the bottom edge. Before, the limited window size meant it was not always fully visible.

• Two-factor when editing: A two-factor account can now be added while editing an entry, not only when creating it.
• Login picture: The picture selection names the minimum size: 4.4 megapixels, about 2100 × 2100 pixels.

• The menu on custom fields: The menu behind the three dots was cut off at the bottom edge of the field list — the further down the field, the less of it you saw. It now opens above everything and flips upwards when there is no room below.
• Search everything, visible: There is now a search box at the top of the sidebar. It opens the same window as Ctrl+K, with the shortcut written next to it.
• Duplicate an entry: Passwords and notes can be copied with everything they hold — custom fields, folder, tags. If you keep several accounts with the same provider, build the fields once and duplicate after that.
• Contacts: When adding custom fields, the cursor returns to the label, so several fields can be typed one after another.

• Two-factor codes: The counter under the code no longer ran properly. It got stuck between one and two seconds, and the code was not refreshed while it did. Both are fixed: the counter now follows the clock, and every period ends with a fresh code.
• What the window shows: An entry without a password no longer shows dots as if something were hidden there. A missing website is plain text instead of a link that leads nowhere. The line “Last used”, which could never say anything but “Unknown”, is gone. Notes show a readable date instead of a machine timestamp.
• Security display: An empty vault no longer earns top marks. It shows a dash and says there is nothing to rate yet. If the display cannot be loaded, a dash appears there too, instead of a zero that looked like your result.
• Search inside an entry: The search box now appears only where an entry holds more than the screen shows at once. With three lines there was nothing to search.

• Search everything: You remember that “doctor” appears somewhere, but not whether it was in a password, a note or a contact. Press Ctrl+K, or Cmd+K on a Mac, whichever page you are on. A search window opens on top of everything, you type the word, and below it stand all the entries that carry it, with the place it appears in. One click takes you there. If the word sits in a hidden field, you see which field it is, never the content.
• A custom field without a value: When adding or editing an entry, under “Custom fields”, you used to have to fill in both a label and a value. The label is now enough. You create “Customer number” while the letter with the number is at home, and fill the value in once you have it. Until then the row says “empty for now”.
• The order of your custom fields: In the same place, at the right of every field row, there is now a button with three dots. Behind it sits everything you can do with that field: move up, move down, edit, insert a field above or below, delete. There used to be four small buttons on every row — forty of them on ten fields.
• More room in the “New entry” window: The window is wider now, and the list of your custom fields inside it uses the height your screen offers. It used to sit in a small cut-out that showed three fields and scrolled the rest.

• Searching within one entry: An entry with many fields gets long. When you open it, there is a small search box at the top: type a word and see which field it appears in, your own fields included.
• Custom fields for notes: What passwords could already do, notes can do now. You add your own fields and decide their order, for notes as well as passwords.
• Sign In comes first: On startup the tab opens on Sign In instead of Create.
• A revealed password: When you click Show, a long password is now shown in full instead of being cut off after a few characters.
• Language: The delete dialog and one placeholder always appeared in German, even with BlindLock set to English. Both now speak the language you chose.

• Maximum Protection on Windows: On request, BlindLock sets up the Windows firewall so that only the separated network part may reach the internet. The main program, where your data lives, has no internet access. After setup, BlindLock verifies the setting and shows you the result.

• Backup setup: The window now says plainly that the backup is written and checked after the step with your twelve words. Folder paths appear without technical characters in front.

• Maintenance: Improvements in the program core, nothing changes in how you work.

• Updates: The update server signs its answer in full, and BlindLock recomputes the downloaded file itself before installing it. If one number is off, nothing happens.
• Separate network part: Everything BlindLock does towards the outside runs through a separated part that cannot see your vault. It travels inside the program and has to match it exactly, otherwise it does not start.
• Activation: If activation is interrupted because the connection drops or the machine goes down, you simply continue it. You still end up with your one licence.
• Linux: Whether you installed BlindLock as .deb, .rpm or AppImage, you always get the file that matches your installation. RPM and AppImage you download from the download page.

• Two-factor codes: If you have two accounts on the same website, you now pick which one you mean when copying the code, or BlindLock takes the account with your username. The 2FA page says "copied" only once the fresh code is really on the clipboard, and offers "Try again" if loading fails.
• Backup: On the backup page the green check appears only once the file is saved, with file name and time. If you change something while a backup is being written, it stays marked as pending and goes into the next backup. Several backup runs wait for each other, so the file always holds the newest state.
• Saving and display: A saved entry counts as saved, even if something is still being caught up in the background. After locking or after a change, BlindLock never shows an older answer from its cache.

• Creating a vault: After creating a vault, everything you change in the same session is saved and backed up right away, and the new vault's rescue goes into the backup at once. If the rescue cannot be stored, the notice now names the step that did not complete.
• Moving to a new computer: Once you have taken your login picture over to a new computer with the backup file and your twelve words, BlindLock writes backups there straight away and carries the vault rescue along.
• Backup setup window: The window that sets up your backup after an update always has a way forward. Choose a folder, check your twelve words or create new ones, then BlindLock writes the backup and proves it opens. If the stored words cannot be read, the window offers new words right there.
• Backup files: A backup you save by hand uses the same twelve words as the automatic one. Every backup file is written completely or not at all, the first backup is opened for a check right after it is written, and a vault counts as rescued only once its rescue is proven inside a backup.
• Entries: Cancel empties the new-entry form. The searches in Wallets and in the vault file browser have a clear button. An entry you expand near the bottom edge scrolls into view on its own.

• Unlocking without server contact: At every successful unlock the server issues a seven-day permit, signed, bound to your device and sealed by the security chip. If the server is ever unreachable, BlindLock opens with that permit. As soon as it answers again, the permit is renewed on your next unlock. When you open without server contact, a strip on the dashboard shows how many days the permit still runs.

• Connect briefly to unlock: If there is no connection while you unlock, your PIN stays valid for ten minutes. "Try again" only re-checks the connection, you never type anything twice.
• Hardware key: The dialog for adding a hardware key fits the window completely and calls your twelve words by their name.
• Vault playlists: When creating or editing, you pick media from the whole vault, with folders and search, not only from the current folder.

• Address book: A new area for family, friends, customers and your own groups. A contact has phone, email, address, birthday and a note, lives in your login picture like everything else and travels with every backup.
• Folders: Above the categories there are folders now, for example 2025 and 2026. One click on a folder shows only its entries, and the editor lets you pick one with a pill.
• New entry editor: Access on the left, everything else on the right, nothing scrolls any more. Categories and tags you already use sit there as pills to click instead of typing.
• Field types: A custom field now has a kind: text, password, URL, email, phone, date or address. Password fields are masked from the start.
• Sort and filter: Sort passwords and notes by name, recently created or recently changed. Click several tags at once and only entries carrying all of them remain. An X clears the search box.
• Keyboard: Arrow keys, page up and down, home and end move through the list, Enter opens the entry. Arrow down from the search box drops straight into the list.
• Vaults: The storage line updates the moment a file is added or removed. Playlists take your selection instead of the whole folder, and the editor lets you add single files. A video keeps its position when you enter or leave full screen.

• One backup file for everything: The backup file and the recovery file are now one and the same file. It carries everything behind your login picture and the rescue for your vaults. A separate rescue file and recovery secret per vault no longer exist. For a vault on another device you need the vault file, your vault password, the backup file and your twelve words.
• Several backup destinations: BlindLock writes the backup file to up to four folders, suggests the sync folders on your device, and checks at every destination that the file really opens with your twelve words. Pending changes are still written before locking and on quit.
• Twelve new words at any time: Misplaced the note? As long as you can sign in, you can generate twelve new words whenever you like. BlindLock rewrites the backup right away.
• One-time transition: After your first sign-in BlindLock walks you once through the new backup, explains what has changed, and finally checks at every destination that recovery works with your twelve words. Afterwards you see where your backup file lives.

• Custom fields: Every entry can now hold extra fields, such as a PIN, a customer number or a security question. You choose the label, and if you want, the value stays masked until you reveal it.
• Tags: Next to the category you can give an entry any number of tags. The list filters by them, and search finds them too.
• Only the name is required: Username, password and address are now optional, so a door code or a licence key fits into an entry as well. Entries without a password no longer count as "weak".

• Playlists: Put together what you want to watch and play it in one go: images, videos or both. You build your lists in the Playlists tab, rename them, reorder them and take entries back out. They stay encrypted in the vault.
• Slideshow: When a folder holds at least five images, you start a full-screen slideshow from the bar below. How long each image stays is yours to set, from two to fifteen seconds.
• Loop: Slideshows and lists with images keep going on their own, a videos-only list plays through once. Top right you can switch the loop either way at any time.
• Calm full screen: Hold the mouse still and the controls fade out, leaving just your picture. Esc brings you back.

• Vault rescue: The rescue file is now saved straight away. Before, BlindLock showed a QR code to scan first — the file is what you need.
• Tidier settings: A card with backup switches is gone. It had no effect after the backup was simplified. The backup itself keeps running on its own.
• Clearer wording: Setting up your rescue now says "twelve words and a backup file" instead of "and a QR".

• Moving to another computer: A login picture taken over on a new computer is now bound completely to that computer's security chip, including the counter for sign-in attempts.
• Full screen: Videos in the file explorer now play in full screen on request. While a video or an audio file is playing, the automatic lock stays out of the way.

• One backup file for everything: Your backup file is now your rescue file too. With it and your twelve words you bring your entries back on a new device or move your login picture to another computer. BlindLock adds this to your existing file on its own the next time you sign in.

• Video playback: Videos in your vault now play right in the built-in file explorer — MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV, with sound, and you can skip back and forth. You no longer have to export a video to watch it.
• Reliability: Checking the backup file at sign-in and restoring with your twelve words now work reliably.

• Server infrastructure: Fully renewed and redundantly protected, across independent locations and different providers.
• Security: The signing keys for app updates were rebuilt from scratch, along with various hardenings across the security architecture.

• Security: Hardened protections and improvements in the core.

• Twelve words: You enter them in twelve numbered fields. A word typed wrong is marked in its own place.
